Paying for care

Private pay

Most families in our area pay directly, weekly, by card or bank draft. Many combine our hours with help from family to build the schedule they can afford.

Long-term care insurance

We accept long-term care insurance from day one and handle the paperwork: we provide the documentation the carrier needs and can bill the carrier directly where the policy allows.

Veterans

UniCura Health is enrolling as a VA community care provider. Veterans and surviving spouses may also qualify for the VA's Aid and Attendance pension, which can be used toward in-home care; we can point you to the right place to apply.

West Virginia Medicaid

Our enrollment as a provider under West Virginia's Aged and Disabled Waiver and Personal Care programs is in process. If your parent has Medicaid, call us: we can explain the application, the wait times, and how families bridge with private-pay hours while a slot opens.

Cost and paying for care

How much does in-home senior care cost in Morgantown, WV?
In Morgantown and North Central West Virginia, UniCura Health’s private-pay rates are $30–32 per hour for Companion & Home Support, $33–35 per hour for Personal Care, and $36–39 per hour for Enhanced Support (evenings, overnights, weekends, and 24-hour care). Short visits of 2–3 hours carry a small premium. There are no contracts, deposits, or sign-up fees. A typical starting schedule of three 4-hour companion visits a week costs roughly $360–385 per week.
Generally, no. Medicare pays for short-term skilled home health care (nursing or therapy ordered by a doctor) but does not pay for non-medical home care such as bathing assistance, meals, companionship, or overnight supervision. Families in West Virginia pay for that kind of care privately, through long-term care insurance, through VA benefits, or, for those who qualify, through a West Virginia Medicaid waiver. UniCura Health can help you sort out which applies.
Yes, for people who qualify. West Virginia Medicaid pays for in-home personal care through the Personal Care program and the Aged and Disabled Waiver (ADW). Both require a medical necessity evaluation and have waiting periods; the Personal Care program typically starts faster than ADW, which can have a long waitlist. UniCura Health’s enrollment as a provider under these programs is in process. Many families use private-pay hours as a bridge while the application works through the state.
Yes. UniCura Health accepts long-term care insurance from day one. We provide the care documentation your carrier requires and can bill the carrier directly where your policy allows. Bring your policy to the first meeting and we will walk through the elimination period and daily benefit with you.
Often, yes. UniCura Health is enrolling as a VA community care provider, and many veterans and surviving spouses in the Morgantown area qualify for the VA’s Aid and Attendance pension, which adds to a monthly pension and can be used for in-home care. The Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg serves our region. We can explain the options and point you to where to apply.
It depends on how many hours of care are needed. For someone who needs a few hours a day, in-home care from UniCura Health is usually less expensive than a Morgantown-area assisted living community, and the person stays in their own home. For someone who needs around-the-clock care, 24-hour home care generally costs more than assisted living but can be comparable to nursing home care. We will give you a real monthly estimate for your situation so you can compare.

Getting started

How quickly can home care start in Morgantown?
UniCura Health calls back within two hours during business hours, and care can usually begin within 48 hours of your call. For hospital discharges, tell us the discharge date and we plan around it. We do a free in-home assessment first so the care plan is right before the first visit.
Short visits of 2–3 hours are available at a small premium; most families schedule visits of 3–4 hours or longer.
No. UniCura Health has no long-term contracts. You can increase, reduce, or stop care with reasonable notice, and we will tell you what that notice is in writing before care starts.
A member of UniCura Health’s leadership team visits the home in Morgantown or the surrounding area, meets your loved one and family, looks at the home for safety, and talks through the daily routine, health conditions, and what you want help with. From that we write a care plan, quote the exact hourly rate, and match a caregiver. The assessment is free and there is no obligation.

Our caregivers

Are UniCura's caregivers employees or contractors?
Employees. Every UniCura Health caregiver is a W-2 employee of UniCura Health LLC, not an independent contractor. That means we are responsible for background checks, training, supervision, workers’ compensation, and liability insurance, so the family is not.
Every UniCura Health caregiver passes a criminal background check and reference checks before entering a client’s home, completes our orientation and ongoing training, and works under the supervision of our Morgantown office. Caregivers are insured and bonded.
That is our goal. UniCura Health matches each client with a primary caregiver and a small backup team, so your parent sees familiar faces and is never left without coverage if someone is sick. For dementia clients we deliberately limit the number of different caregivers.
UniCura Health covers the shift. Because our caregivers are employees scheduled by our office, a backup caregiver from the client’s own team is sent, and the family is told in advance. Families never have to find a replacement themselves.
Yes. UniCura Health hires caregivers in Morgantown, Fairmont, Clarksburg, and the surrounding North Central West Virginia area. We offer guaranteed hours for our founding caregiver class, weekly pay, paid orientation, paid travel time between clients, and a raise at 90 days. See our Careers page.

Types of care

What is the difference between home care and home health care?
Home health care is skilled medical care (nursing, physical therapy, wound care) ordered by a doctor, usually short-term, and usually paid by Medicare. Home care, which is what UniCura Health provides in Morgantown, Cheat Lake, Star City, Westover, Granville, Fairmont, Clarksburg, Bridgeport, Bruceton Mills, Kingwood, is non-medical: help with bathing, dressing, meals, companionship, transportation, and supervision, for as long as it is needed, paid privately or through long-term care insurance, VA benefits, or Medicaid waivers. Many families in our area use both at the same time, and we coordinate with the home health agency.
Very often, yes, with the right support. UniCura Health’s 90-Day Dementia Starter gives families in Morgantown and North Central West Virginia a structured first three months: a consistent caregiver team, a written daily routine, and coaching for the family. Many people with dementia do better in familiar surroundings than in a facility, and staying home is usually what they want. As needs grow, care steps up to overnight and 24-hour support.
Yes. UniCura Health’s Enhanced Support tier covers evenings, overnights (awake or sleeping, as agreed), weekends, holidays, and full 24-hour care in the home, delivered by a small consistent team of caregivers.
Yes. UniCura Health’s Hospital-to-Home program is built for exactly that. Call us when a discharge date is set; we call back within two hours, can start within 48 hours, and provide 30 days of structured support through the period when falls and readmissions are most likely. We work alongside the home health agency, physical therapist, or hospice if one is involved.
Yes. Respite care is available on any UniCura Health service level, from a single afternoon to a week or more, so a family caregiver in the Morgantown area can rest, travel, or simply take a break knowing their loved one is safe at home.
Care Oversight is UniCura Health’s monthly care-coordination service for seniors living at home in the Morgantown area whose adult children live elsewhere. A named local coordinator makes regular in-home check-ins, tracks appointments, coordinates with doctors and providers, and sends the family a plain-English monthly report. It is a flat monthly fee and can be used with or without hourly care. Financial planners and attorneys often recommend it to clients who are aging in place.
