Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information we collect through the UniCura Compass mobile app, the Compass web portal and our website at unicurahealth.com, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We have written it in plain language on purpose. If anything is unclear, ask us.

Who we are

UniCura Compass is operated by UniCura Holdings LLC, which owns the app. Care services are provided by UniCura Health LLC, a non-medical home care agency. Both are West Virginia limited liability companies located at 7000 Hampton Center, Suite F, Morgantown, WV 26505. In this policy, “UniCura,” “we” and “us” refer to both companies together.

UniCura Compass is an invitation-only app for UniCura Health caregivers, supervisors and office staff, and for family members or legal decision-makers of UniCura Health clients who have been invited to use it. It is not a public app and it does not provide medical advice or medical services.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When your account is created you provide, or we enter on your behalf, your name, email address, phone number and your role (caregiver, supervisor, office staff or family member). Caregivers and supervisors enter visit notes, observations, task completion and, if they choose, photos related to a client’s care. Family members may send and receive messages within the app.

Information about clients. The app holds information about the people UniCura Health cares for: name, address, care plan tasks, visit schedules, notes and observations recorded by caregivers, and the names and contact details of family members and decision-makers. This information is entered by UniCura Health staff as part of providing care. We collect only what is needed to deliver and supervise that care.

Information collected automatically. When you use the app we collect device type, operating system version, app version, a device token used to send push notifications, log-in times and basic usage and error logs so that we can keep the app working and secure. The app does not use advertising identifiers and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Location. UniCura Compass does not collect your location. Caregivers clock in and out of visits in a separate scheduling application (AxisCare) that is governed by its own privacy policy.

Website. When you visit unicurahealth.com we collect the usual server information (IP address, browser, pages visited) and anything you submit through a contact or inquiry form. We may use standard analytics to understand how the site is used.

How we use information

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use client care information to train artificial intelligence models offered to anyone outside UniCura.

Who we share information with

Service providers. We use companies that host and support the app on our behalf: Amazon Web Services (hosting), MongoDB Atlas (database), Apple and Google (push notifications and app distribution) and Socialist Fox Limited (development and technical support). These companies may access information only to perform services for us and are bound by written agreements, including business associate agreements where required.

Scheduling system. UniCura Health uses AxisCare as its system of record for schedules, visit verification and billing. Information about visits may be exchanged between Compass and AxisCare so that both stay accurate.

Within the care team. Information about a client is visible to the caregivers assigned to that client, their supervisors, UniCura Health office staff, and the family members or decision-makers the client has authorized. A family member sees information about their own loved one only.

When the law requires it. We share information when required by law, such as mandatory reporting of suspected abuse or neglect, a court order, or a request from a licensing or oversight agency, and when needed to protect someone’s health or safety.

Business changes. If UniCura is sold, merged or reorganized, information may transfer to the new owner under the same protections described here.

Health information and HIPAA

Some information in Compass is health information. Where UniCura Health acts as a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA, we handle that information according to HIPAA and our Notice of Privacy Practices, which clients receive at the start of service. Where HIPAA does not apply, we still treat care information as confidential and protect it in the same way. Caregivers and staff sign confidentiality agreements and are trained on privacy before their first visit.

How we protect information

Information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited by role, so each user sees only what their role requires. Accounts require a password and may require a second factor. Production data is accessed by our technical vendor only by exception and under our supervision; development and testing use synthetic data, not real client information. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach affects your information we will notify you as the law requires.

How long we keep information

Client care records are kept for the period required by West Virginia law and our record retention policy, which is at least five years after services end. Account information for staff and family users is kept while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterward for audit and legal purposes. Usage and error logs are kept for a shorter period and then deleted.

Your choices

Account deletion

Accounts are created by UniCura Health, not by users themselves. To close your account, choose “Request account deletion” in the app’s settings or email admint@unicurahealth.com. We will disable the account right away and delete your personal account information within 30 days. Care records that we are required to keep by law will be retained in UniCura Health’s records even after the account is deleted, and your name will remain on visit notes you created, because those are part of the client’s record.

Children

UniCura Compass is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and the app is not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will post the new version at unicurahealth.com/privacy and update the date at the top. For significant changes we will tell app users in the app or by email.
